The Mountain Biodiversity Portal is a project of the Global Mountain Biodiversity Assessment (GMBA), a cross cutting network of DIVERSITAS, in collaboration with the Global Biodiversity information Facility (GBIF). GBIF’s mission is to facilitate free and open access to biodiversity data worldwide via the Internet to underpin sustainable development. GMBA actively explores and explains the great biological richness of the mountains of the world, and seeks to provide input to policy makers and stakeholders for the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity in mountain regions. The Mountain Biodiversity Portal is a contribution to the Mountain Programme of Work of the Convention on Biological Diversity.
